A Cocoon kapok baby duvet is perfect for children who feel warm at night, thanks to the fiber's fantastic temperature-regulating properties. As the kapok fiber is moisture wicking, the baby duvet will not absorb moisture and sweat, but will instead send the moisture through the duvet. You will therefore experience that the child gets a nice dry sleep during the night. The Kapok duvet is also naturally hypoallergenic, as house dust mites cannot live in the fiber. This product has been tested and approved according to EU safety requirements EN 16779-1
We think it is important that children are given the best conditions to achieve a comfortable and uninterrupted night's sleep. A kapok baby duvet is a cool, breathable and temperature-regulating all-season duvet that can help create the right environment for the child. Our own story with kapok started back when our youngest son, Phillip, was little. Like many other children, Phillip was a hot child and he often woke up several times during the night, hot and humid. We tried all the traditional sleeping products, such as down, feathers and foam, but nothing really helped.
In our search for alternative materials, we came across the natural fiber kapok, which proved to be fantastic for regulating heat and moisture. It is through our development of these kapok products that we found the solution for our son. The Kapok duvet gave our son the sleep we had been looking for for so long. Finally he could sleep through a whole night without waking up drenched in sweat and having to look for a new dry spot on the duvet. It is this reassurance that we now try to pass on to other parents, who experience the same situation with their child as we did.
Our kapok duvet is filled with 100% untreated and organic kapok and covered with a spring of certified organic cotton. No chemicals or synthetic materials are used during either the cultivation or the production of our kapok quilt. What makes our Cocoon kapok baby duvet special:
Why choose a kapok duvet?
Most people can nod in recognition to the experience of a feather or down duvet getting really warm during the night. You get so hot that you have to stick your leg out or lift up the duvet a bit during the night, just to cool off a little. This is because feathers and down are both incredibly good at insulating. The ability to insulate really well is perfect during the cold months, when we want to retain the heat as much as possible. It's really nice, right up to the point where you've warmed up the duvet and mattress to body temperature. After this, the body needs to be able to get rid of the excess heat and moisture that the body creates. Unfortunately, this is where feathers and down often fall short, due to their great insulating properties.
The lightness of the kapok fiber means that it regulates the heat around the body and transports the excess moisture and heat away from the body, so that the child gets a nice, regulated and dry night's sleep. This is especially important for infants, as small children can have difficulty regulating their own body temperature. This can lead to small children becoming too hot and sweating. Therefore, it is incredibly important that the baby duvet is good enough to help the child regulate heat and moisture. And this is where the kapok fiber really makes a difference.
Kapok is a natural fiber that grows on the kapok tree Cebia pentranda in the tropical rainforests of South and Central America, India and in the western part of Africa. You can partially compare kapok with cotton, but kapok differs by being much airier than cotton. The kapok fiber contains 80% air and is thus 8 times lighter than cotton, making it the lightest natural fiber in the world. The high air content in the kapok fiber is what makes it incredibly temperature regulating and breathable.
When you sleep with a kapok quilt, you will experience that the quilt adapts to your body temperature. A kapok duvet is therefore one of the best things to sleep with if you have problems with sweating or simply find a normal down duvet too warm and insulating. A kapok quilt is also distinguished by being water-resistant. Kapok contains a natural layer of wax around each individual silky fiber. This means that the kapok duvet will not absorb the moisture and sweat that the body emits during the night. Instead, the moisture is transported away from the body through the fiber's many airy cavities. You will therefore find that a kapok duvet remains pleasantly dry throughout the night.
A Cocoon kapok quilt can be washed at 60 °C - however, we recommend washing at 40 °C to protect the duvet as much as possible and for a more environmentally friendly cleaning. For the best possible result, it is also recommended to use a tumble dryer to dry the product.
REMEMBER TO READ EXTENDED WASHING INSTRUCTIONS.
Upon receiving the duvet In order to preserve the fiber structure and the properties of the fiber as best as possible, we recommend that you only wash your kapok duvet if it is strictly necessary. Your Cocoon kapok duvet has not been dyed, treated with chemicals, nor contains any synthetic materials, and you therefore do not need to wash your new kapok duvet before use.
In addition, kapok contains a natural bitter substance, which makes the fiber and thus the kapok duvet antibacterial and resistant to house dust mites. It is therefore not necessary to wash the kapok duvet, unless there has been a major accident in the bed. In the case of minor stains, we recommend that you simply spot clean the duvet, in order to spare the duvet as much as possible.
We recommend airing the kapok quilt approx. once a month or as needed to maintain the structure of your duvet and ensure a healthy and fresh sleeping environment. If you need to wash your kapok duvet - then follow our extended washing instructions, which you will also find at the bottom of website.
