WHAT IS A MATTRESS PROTECTOR?
A mattress protector is a waterproof layer that you place in the bed between the sheet and (top) mattress. The mattress protector, (also often called a waterproof-sheet), ensures that nighttime urination and accidents do not end up in the mattress. The liquid remains in the waterpoof mattress protector, which can then be easily washed and changed to a dry one should the accident happen.

ARE THE MATTRESS PROTECTORS BREATHABLE?
The unique thing about the mattress protectors from Cocoon Company is actually that they are breathable and comfortable to sleep on. This has been the whole core of our development of the mattress protectors that we can offer today for both children and adults.
Many of the mattress protectors we see on the market today consist of artificial, plastic-containing materials. It can of course be extremely disruptive to our night's sleep if we sleep on a synthetic surface with a layer of plastic that does not allow the body to breathe.
Therefore, choose a mattress protector that allows your body to get rid of heat when you sleep on it and that does not give you the experience of sleeping on a piece of crackling plastic. Our mattress protectors both feel and look like a regular sheet and make no sound when you move on it in your sleep.
WHEN DO YOU USE A MATTRESS PROTECTOR?
You use a mattress protector in your child's sleeping environment to avoid accidents that drain down into the mattress. So regardless of whether the child sleeps in a carrycot, pram, cradle or bed, we have a size that matches your child's mattress. The mattress protector is fantastically easy to use, because it can simply be thrown in the washing machine if it gets wet. It gives you and your child a better night's sleep without major disturbances, because you avoid the entire mattress getting wet. A mattress can be difficult to wash properly if urine has first penetrated the filling.
You can start using our mattress protectors right from birth. Toddlers will often have accidents from the nappy leaking into the bed. When your child has grown up and is practicing becoming diaper-free, it may happen from time to time that the child involuntarily wets the bed at night. In those situations, it is just super nice that the child sleeps on a waterproof surface.
HOW TO USE A MATTRESS PROTECTOR
Our mattress protectors are equipped with a wide elastic in all 4 corners, which is pulled down around your mattress or mattress topper, before the protector is finally placed on the bed. However, there are no elastics on the smallest mattress protectors for carrycots, prams, cradles etc. as these are so small. Here, you simply place the mattress protector on top of, for example, your cot mattress and then pull a stretch sheet over.
You can also choose to buy our larger mattress protectors and use them as the mattress protector across the mattress, so that the waterproof surface only covers the area in the middle of the body.
Whether you place the mattress protectors above or below your mattress pad is a matter of taste. Both parts are possible. But if you place your mattress protectors under our kapok mattress pad, you get even better breathability for the bed and our mattress pads are also easy to wash.
NIGHT WEATHER IN CHILDREN
Children of all ages may experience bedwetting at night. Most children become nappy-free between the ages of 2 and 4, but approx. 10% experience that the nighttime urination continues. And it can be a big nuisance, both for the child and for the parents.
When the child becomes aware of it, it can also place some social restrictions on the child. Perhaps it does not feel that it can spend the night with friends or go on camping trips where there is an overnight stay, because it is "embarrassing" if the bed is wet in the morning. The child may need to sleep with a night nappy, alarm device or nighttime underpants.
By placing our discreet mattress protector in the bed, under the regular sheet, your child can easily invite friends over to the room, without anyone discovering the problem your child is having.
At the same time, it gives the whole family a better night's sleep that you don't have to change beds during the night. A new mattress protector on the bed and then everyone is ready to sleep again.
It is always a good idea to ask your family doctor for advice regarding the nighttime wetting. When your child is over 5 years old, the doctor will be able to carry out some examinations about the child's urination pattern, etc.

The quality of our mattress protectors is really good. They can easily be used as aid in terms of diaper change in bed, etc., for bedridden and immobilized people who need a little extra help.
HOW TO WASH A MATTRESS PROTECTOR?
Fortunately, it is quite easy to wash Cocoon's mattress protectors. We would always recommend that you only wash the mattress protector when necessary. By washing less and at lower temperatures, we protect the environment. Therefore, we recommend washing at 40 degrees or a maximum of 60 degrees if there is a need for it.
It may be a good idea to choose a program on the machine for heavy laundry, as the mattress protectors become relatively heavy when soaked in the washing machine. If necessary, you can give the sheet an extra spin.
The mattress protector is best hang dried, so that it stretches out a little to its original shape and size again. Do not use a tumble dryer.
Please note that the mattress protectors shrink approx. 8-10% when washing. Therefore, please stretch them gently when wet before hanging them up.
