Kapok fiber is known for its amazing ability to regulate heat and moisture during sleep. When you sleep on a kapok mattress pad, your bed will not feel damp, cold or too hot. Newborns often have difficulty regulating their own temperature, and a kapok mattress pad is therefore particularly suitable for infants. It is important for newborns that their temperature remains around 37 degrees, and they must neither become too cold nor too hot. That is why the kapok mattress pad is the perfect choice for newborns. The fiber quickly achieves body temperature and helps the child regulate heat and moisture during the night. Another advantage of choosing a kapok mattress is that kapok fiber is naturally resistant to mites, such as house dust mites. House dust mites like to live in a moist environment, but since the kapok fiber does not absorb moisture, they cannot live in a kapok fiber. Our kapok is also 100% organic and untreated, and grown without the addition of chemicals, pesticides etc. You can therefore safely place your baby on our kapok mattress pad, knowing that your child is sleeping in a chemcial-free and hypoallergenic environment..
A good nights sleep is important for our health. That is why we believe that finding the right sleeping product is important to maximize comfort and well-being throughout the night. Kapok is cool, temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking which gives you a comfortable sleep that is both nice temperate and dry. A perfect match for those who have problems with hot nights and therefore needs a breathable underlay that allow you to get rid of excess heat. Also, our kapok mattress pads are both vegan, organic and hypoallergenic. The mattress pad is not however meant as a mattress protector, and we therefore recommend placing a breathable mattress pad over/under the mattress pad to protect the mattress and mattress pad. To further protect the mattress and mattress pad, we recommend our organic jersey sheet. The fitted sheet is woven from 100% organic cotton, without the addition of synthetic or treated fibres. Complete the organic, vegan and hypoallergenic sleeping environment with a natural duvet and pillow.
As with all mattresses, it is a good idea to set the mattress upright once in a while to air the mattress. If you have a bed with a plate bottom, pay special attention to getting the mattress aired regularly. These beds make transporting moisture away from the mattress more difficult. Kapok transports moisture and heat away from the child, but if the moisture cannot get away from the bottom of the mattress, the moisture is trapped between the mattress and the plate bottom. In worst case, fungal spores can be formed under the mattress. Unfortunately, this can happen to any mattresses. Therefore, ventilate the mattress once a week, or as needed.
A Cocoon kapok quilt can be washed at 60 °C - however, we recommend washing at 40 °C to protect the duvet as much as possible and for a more environmentally friendly cleaning. For the best possible result, it is also recommended to use a tumble dryer to dry the product.

Upon receiving the duvet In order to preserve the fiber structure and the properties of the fiber as best as possible, we recommend that you only wash your kapok duvet if it is strictly necessary. Your Cocoon kapok duvet has not been dyed, treated with chemicals, nor contains any synthetic materials, and you therefore do not need to wash your new kapok duvet before use.
In addition, kapok contains a natural bitter substance, which makes the fiber and thus the kapok duvet antibacterial and resistant to house dust mites. It is therefore not necessary to wash the kapok duvet, unless there has been a major accident in the bed. In the case of minor stains, we recommend that you simply spot clean the duvet, in order to spare the duvet as much as possible.
We recommend airing the kapok quilt approx. once a month or as needed to maintain the structure of your duvet and ensure a healthy and fresh sleeping environment. If you need to wash your kapok duvet - then follow our extended washing instructions, which you will also find at the bottom of website.
